"This thing was massive, and it was coming right towards me," Jordan Aubey told ABC7.
The 27-year-old grew up in Winfield and is now a television reporter in Joplin. He is recovering at a hospital in Oklahoma.
Aubey was in his apartment building when the tornado hit. He says as he saw and felt the twister coming he ran to the bathroom to try and ride it out in his bathtub.
"I became a part of this tornado because I remember levitating in the air...then fighting with the tornado," said Aubey.
Aubey suffered several cuts and a broken hip which required surgery and metal rods implanted in his leg.
Lutheran Church Charities has set up a fund for Aubey as well as another fund for all the tornado victims. The organization says 100 percent of the donations go to the cause. For more information on donating, visit www.LutheranChurchCharities.org.
