Bike the Drive riders headed out from Grant Park with Lake Michigan barely visible to the east. Lake Shore Drive was closed to car traffic for four hours, which gave some of the cyclists enough time to navigate the entire course from Bryn Mawr on the north end to 57th Street on the south end.
"I've always wanted to do it. I figured once I hit 30, it's time to start taking advantage of these fun activities that we have here in Chicago," said bicyclist Meghan Haynes.
"This is great chance to do something you don't normally get to do, actually bike on Lake Shore Drive," said bicyclist Dan Koroski.
