A month later, Brizard began a citywide listening tour. He plans to visit a school a day, and meet with students, teachers, principals and parents.
During a 21-year career in the New York City public schools, Brizard taught science in junior high, and physics in high school. He was a high school principal.
Brizard also was a regional superintendent, and executive director for secondary schools. For the past three years, Brizard has been school superintendent in Rochester, New York.
