Ex-trooper from Glen Ellyn pleads to child porn

June 15, 2011 (WHEATON, Ill.) Fifty-one-year-old Juan Rodriguez of Glen Ellyn, who retired in March 2010, admitted to viewing child pornography on a state-issued laptop computer while sitting in his squad car.

DuPage County prosecutors told Judge George Bakalis that Rodriguez's name came up during an ongoing investigation by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security into the Internet distribution of child pornography.

In addition to jail, Bakalis on Tuesday also sentenced Rodriguez to 30 months of probation and ordered him to register as a child sex offender and pay a $2,000 fine.

Defense attorney Brian Telander said his client denies ever having touched a child in a sexual manner.
