The image of the couple went viral and their story has captured world-wide attention.
The couple was recently been identified as Scott Jones from Australia and his Canadian girlfriend Alex Thomas, and they've spoken out about why they were locked in an embrace during a riot.
"They charged at us, Alex fell over, I went back for her, they kept hitting us with their shields. I was talking to her, trying to calm her down -- kissing helps calm her down as well," Jones said.
News of Jones making love, not war, made it all the way back to his hometown in Perth, Australia, where his sister spotted him.
The kissing couple has only been dating six months, but they are already thinking about how they'll explain the now famous image to their kids.
