The three males were shot in the 7000-block of South Parnell around 4 p.m. Police say one of the victims, an 87-year-old man, was sitting on the porch of a home when a bullet grazed his arm. A 17-year-old was shot in the stomach while he was on his bike. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital conscious and alert.
Residents are reluctant to discuss the violence, but one person who did not want to be identified says that the violence frightened his younger relatives.
"When I looked through the window, I heard, I seen this dude with dreads, whatever, I seen him bleeding from the side, he was holding his hips or whatever, so I figure he got shot in his ribs. And I seen blood leaking out and all that other stuff. So again, everybody's screaming, so I'm like there really was a shooting," he told ABC7.
Police remained on the scene Tuesday evening.
