Police say they were responding to a call of shots fired in the 4300-block of West Walton when they saw someone they wanted to question.
The 13-year-old reportedly saw the officers and began running. Investigators say he had a BB gun, which he pointed at officers. That's when he was shot.
The teen is charged as a juvenile with assaulting a police officer. He is due in court on August 15.
