The Chicago born and raised singer was the oldest member of the Barrett Sisters' Trio. She first began singing with the Roberta Martin Singers while still in high school. The Barrett Sisters later formed in the 1960s and recorded their first album "Jesus Loves Me".
Campbell died at a Chicago hospital today after a long illness.
Campbell's daughter says singer Jennifer Hudson was by her bedside Monday. Hudson says she grew up listening to Campbell.
Delois Barrett Campbell was 85 years old.
