Slain Officer Bailey's son arrested, charged

August 6, 2011 (CHICAGO)

Michael Bailey Jr., 28, was arrested Friday after police responded to a report of shots fired in Chicago's Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood.

He is charged with unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a stolen firearm.

Bailey's bond was set at $10,000 Saturday after his lawyer asked the judge for leniency.

Bailey's father, Chicago police Officer Michael Bailey, was shot to death in July 2010 as he returned home from an overnight shift guarding former Mayor Richard Daley's home.

Antwon Carter, 24, was charged with his murder last month.
