Members of the Save Our Schools Coalition held a news conference Wednesday morning at Jacob Beidler Elementary School. They say a longer school day will help students perform better in class and improve test scores.
There are more than 50 failing schools on the city's West Side alone.
The group says parents, school staff, community members and elected officials all need to make necessary sacrifices for Chicago's children.
