Gurnee Police Commander Jay J. Patrick said in a release that officers responded to a call of possible shooting at Anthony Auto Group, located at 7225 Grand Avenue, at 1:15 p.m. Upon arrival, they found instead that two men had been stabbed on the street and run to the dealership for help.
One of the men died of a neck wound; the second man remains in serious condition at a local hospital.
Police took a suspect in the stabbing into custody shortly after the incident. He has a wound to his hand, officials said.
"There was no evidence of a gun involved," according to the release.
Officials say no one else was involved in the case.
The investigation has been turned over to the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force.
