Blood test identifies pancreatic cancer

Pancreatic tumors typically fly under the radar until they can become deadly, but a new blood test is showing promise at spotting them early.

The test measures a specific protein and was able to identify two thirds of patients who had pancreatic cancer at an early stage of their disease.

Any means of spotting pancreatic cancer early is critical.

The types of pancreatic cancer spotted were by far the most common form of the disease.

The data was presented at the Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium in San Francisco.
