If you mix alcohol with a family history of colon cancer, you could be stirring up a dangerous mix.

A new study finds people who fit in this category increase their risk of colon cancer. They were at even greater risk if they also ate red meat, smoked more and consumed the least folate, eating fewer green vegetables and cereal.

Researchers in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition say this suggests diet plays an important role in colon cancer risk.
