Unemployed workers stage protest in the Loop

Despite Friday's encouraging jobs report that the unemployment rate has dropped again, a group of unemployed workers staged a protest in the Loop claiming they are being left behind.

The demonstration was organized by the group Chicago Jobs With Justice. They gathered outside the Thompson Center for a noon rally.

Many of those protesting Friday were out-of-work teachers.

The group is pushing for a $1 tax on trades at the Mercantile Exchange and Board of Trade. They say that money could pay for education funding and for a jobs program to put people back to work.
