Thursday afternoon, parents picking their children up from the St. Scholastica Academy say they are shocked by the decision.
The West Rogers Park school has been struggling financially and enrollment has been dropping for many years.
The all-girls Catholic school is closing in June after 146 years.
School officials had no comment today about the pleas of former governor Blagojevich and others to keep the school open.
