Rockford students and teachers will return to class Monday, ending a teachers strike.

The teachers met over the weekend to discuss a tentative agreement with the school district.

The two-day strike had forced the cancellation of classes for 28,000 students in the north central Illinois community.

A tentative four-year agreement was announced Friday, but details were not revealed.

The teachers union called a meeting Saturday to consider ratification of the agreement, which also must be approved by the school board.
