New trial for woman convicted in sledgehammer attack

May 1, 2012 (CHICAGO)

Sandra Rogers is serving a 30-year sentence for attacking her ex-husband and his wife with a sledge hammer at their Lincolnshire home back in 2003.

Rogers pleaded guilty after prosecutors led her to believe they had enough evidence to convict her.

The judge ruled some of that evidence did not exist. He says Rogers can retract the guilty plea. A new trial date will be set next Tuesday.
