Currently, the charitable organization occupies a 500,000-square-foot warehouse in Alsip and is losing the space because the owner has someone waiting to lease it. Purdy has been in the warehouse, paying only a minimal fee for utilities.
Since traveling to Guatemala in 1999, Purdy has been dedicated to making sure children and adults around the world have shoes. Share Your Soles, a non-profit, has donated millions of shoes to those in need across the world. The shoes are boxed according to size, type and purpose.
The organization distributes bikes, crutches, walkers and wheelchairs to those who desperately need them across the world. Volunteers come in daily to unload new shipments and to process them.
Purdy says, after 13 years, folding up the business is the last resort if she cannot find at least a 20,000-square-foot-space.
