September 10, 2012 (LANSING, Ill.) --
A pilot died after crashing his gyrocopter shortly after taking off from Lansing Municipal Airport. He has been identified as Edward Wiggins, 66, of Gary.
The homemade gyrocopter went down shortly after taking off from Lansing municipal airport Monday morning. It crashed in a cornfield just off the runway.
The pilot was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries.
There is no word on the cause of the crash.
