FBI agents responded Monday afternoon to a bank robbery at the TCF Bank branch at 7342 West Foster in Chicago. At about 1:25 p.m., a man approached a teller and presented a note demanding cash. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money from the teller, the robber fled on foot. He did not present a weapon, and no injuries were reported.
The robber is also believed to have struck four other times, starting with the October 13 robbery of a TCF Bank on North Cumberland in Chicago; an attempted robbery on October 14 at a TCF Bank in Des Plaines, the robbery on October 15 of a Charter One branch in Norridge, and the October 24 robbery of a TCF Bank branch in Stickney.
On all of these occasions, the robber has worn a plaid flannel shirt, and in his most recent robberies, he has also worn a ballcap, which has led agents to refer to him as the "Elmer Fudd Bandit."
Witnesses describe the robber as being 40-50 years old, 5'6"-5'7" with blonde hair and a balding hairline.
