A 9-year-old boy from Chicago has collected nearly 600 toys to send to young victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Sam Love is a third grader at Beasley Elementary.

He was inspired by news reports about the disaster and decided to launch a toy drive.

Thursday afternoon he shipped the gifts to the Salvation Army in New York City.

Sam says his project makes him feel great.

"Cause I get to help other people than myself this year," he said.

Sam says he's already planning a toy drive for next year.
