A new study on bed rest suggests that taking it easy does not prevent premature births in troubled pregnancies. The study involving 646 pregnant women finds bed rest could make things worse.
Approximately 40 percent of the women were ordered to restrict their activities, and about 37 percent of those who followed the precautions had a premature baby, compared with just 17 percent of the women who did not scale back.
The research was published in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
