John's Beauty Supply was robbed around noon. The store's surveillance cameras caught the offenders, a man and woman, confronting two employees. The woman used pepper spray on one clerk and the man pointed a gun at the other clerk. The male offender is then seen going behind the counter and filling a plastic bag with human hair.
Hairstylists say robberies like this are becoming more common. Nicole Smith said human hair is a hot commodity- and can be very expensive.
"You look at the reality TV shows and all the ladies have long locks," Smith said. [Some people] can't always get that."
Smith, who works a few blocks from John's Beauty Supply, said she was also robbed- but by a client. "Normally I'm not so careless with hair," she said.
