Illinois State Police say a car with three people was going south near 71st Street When another vehicle approached, and shots were fired at approximately 1 a.m.
A man identified as Fredrick Taylor, 27, died, and a woman who suffered a gunshot wound to the chest was hospitalized.
A third person in the car was not hit.
It was not clear later Sunday morning what led to the shooting.
