The effort to find them a home is the mission of Kidsave, an organization that tries to connect kids in orphanages with families.
The Agosto family forms a welcoming committee at O'Hare Airport, excited to meet the three young boys who will share their home for the next five weeks.
Siblings, ages 13, 11 and 6, who are orphans in their native Colombia, are coming to America for a chance to be adopted.
"The odds of these children being adopted in Colombia are slim," said David Agosto.
So it's the mission of Kidsave to place older orphans with adoptive families.
The organization identifies host families like the Agostos, who can help children experience family life for a few weeks while getting the chance to meet prospective parents.
"People who adopt internationally usually don't get to see a picture of the child and here, it's not only getting to know them but spending time with children as well," said Maru Braemer, Kidsave.
The Agostos themselves are familiar with adoption, David and Julie expanded their family several years after having three kids.
"We got to a point in our thirties that we really wanted to do something that we thought was for someone else not realizing that the blessing was for us," Julie Agosto said.
They adopted three boys, who hope the boys coming in Wednesday can be a part of their family permanently.
"Everybody deserves a second chance and when you get that second chance, god blesses you," said Aaron Agosto.
Then the boys arrived, with only their backpacks. But they still brought gifts, handmade friendship bracelets.
There were lots of hugs and hope for the future.
"Just thinking about enjoying these next five weeks and not thinking about the end of it and really hoping to find a family for them, because that's the ultimate goal," David Agosto said.
Kidsave has planned advocacy events the next few weeks for potential adoptive families to meet the young boys.
