PHOTOS: Police check out suspicious package at Van Buren
The Chicago Police Department's Bomb and Arson unit responded to the platform at Van Buren and Michigan around 7 a.m. after a suspicious package was found. Around 8:30 a.m., trains were once again rolling.
The incident occurred right during the middle of the morning rush hour, interupting many commuters.
"We got down there and the gates are closed. I guess they found a package down there," Cordellos Perry said.
"I'm getting used to it, I guess. This is the longest delay. I've had delays before, but this is longest. You're just trying to get to work," Donna Thomas, commuter, said.
The suspicious package was a cooler left on the platform. A janitor had noticed it, and thought there were wires coming out of it.
