Deborah Rutter has worked with the symphony for 10 years and will leave in 6 months.
"At the Kennedy Center we have the opportunity to make a really big difference, both for the art and the artist and also making a statement about the importance of culture in our society," said Rutter.
Rutter says she's better prepared for her new challenge because of what she's learned from colleagues here.
