Pedestrian struck, killed in Dunning

The driver stayed on the scene. No charges have been filed as of 8 a.m.

Police were blocking the intersection, which includes a McDonald's and an Amoco BP gas station.

The person was hit about 5:50 a.m. in the Dunning neighborhood near the Harwood Heights border, police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan said.

The victim, whose age or gender was not immediately known, was taken to Presence Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center, where he or she was later pronounced dead, Sullivan said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office could not confirm the death as of 6:45 a.m.

Information about the driver or any citations was not immediately known. The police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating.

No. 86 Narragansett/Ridgeland CTA buses are temporarily rerouted to travel through Nagle, Gunnison, Austin and Narragansett, according to the CTA.
