CHICAGO (WLS) -- Five people are in critical condition after a two-car crash on Chicago's Northwest Side at Armitage and Cicero early Friday.

The crash, which occurred around 2:15 a.m., caused the CTA to reroute the #73 Armitage and the #54 Cicero buses while the streets are blocked for the investigation.

The crash damaged a CTA bus stop and some newspaper dispensers across the street. And debris broke the window of an appliance shop on the corner.

The man who lives above that business said this isn't the first time this has happened.

"It was like an earthquake, the whole building shook with that stuff flying into it. It scared the living hell out of me. I thought I was going to get hurt," said a neighbor who identified himself as Chucky D. "I woke up and I saw the car and the people all around, and the girl was crying inside hurt, damaged. She was bleeding or something. The ambulance came and got her out."

Three victims were taken to Stroger Hospital, two were taken to Mt. Sinai.

The cars were both heading south on Cicero Ave. when they collided. It's unclear what caused the crash.
