CHICAGO (WLS) -- Archbishop-Designate Blase Cupich is already receiving praise from the people he will be leading. He says he wants to be more involved in the city, and that involves tackling some of its hardest issues, like poverty and gun violence.

"It's going to take everyone involved in that, religious, civic leaders, political leaders, the business community," Cupich said. "Violence is spread many times in poverty, in situations of poverty and inequality, so those have to be addressed."

His statements are music to the ears of Father Michael Pfleger of St. Sabina Parish who has worked for years to end gun violence in the city.

It's a plea that has not garnered a lot of attention from past leaders of the church.

Father Pfleger has yet to speak to the next archbishop, but he says he's hopeful of what to come.
