BROOKFIELD, Ill. (WLS) -- Have you ever fed a giraffe or mingled with a penguin? Here's a chance to get up close and personal with these animals at Brookfield Zoo.
Guests at the zoo's Habitat Africa exhibit can buy a giraffe a treat for $10, then let the animal reach down and take the morsel right from their hand.
The offer runs on a first-come, first-served basis from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily through Labor Day or until the greens are gone, which will depend on the weather.
Guests can also participate in a penguin encounter at the Living Coast exhibit for $40. The penguins are free to waddle up to guests for photos or just a face-to-face meeting.
Each session lasts 45 minutes and is limited to 20 people. These encounters are offered throughout the year, every day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., to guests age 5 and up. Children between ages 5 and 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
