Body pulled from Calumet River on South Side

A man's body was pulled from the Calumet River on the South Side Friday morning.

Crews pulled the body of a man, thought to be in his 30s, from the river under the 92nd Street Bridge in the 9200 block of South Ewing Avenue about 10 a.m., police News Affairs Sgt. Antoinette Ursitti said.

The were no obvious signs of trauma to the man's body, Ursitti said.

The man, who remained unidentified Sunday morning, was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:15 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. An autopsy performed Saturday was inconclusive pending further studies.

Area South detectives are conducting a death investigation.
