Cardinal George meets with Colin Collette, man fired after same-sex engagement

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Francis Cardinal George met with a man who was fired from his job after he became engaged to his male partner.

Colin Collette was the music director at Holy Family Parish in Inverness. He says he's "incredibly grateful" to the cardinal for the meeting.

Collette described it as "pastoral" so he wouldn't get into specifics, but called it a "wonderful" conversation.

"A conversation that I hope will continue. And again he's an incredibly busy man and not well. That he would offer me the opportunity to be back with him and meet with him is a gift," said Collette.

Collette says the cardinal's office plans to schedule another time for them to meet again.
