Escape winter in your dream car at Chicago Auto Show

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Chicago Auto Show is great place to escape this week's cold weather. You can get behind the wheel of your dream car and imagine yourself driving in the warm sunshine.

The dreamers flock to the convertibles on any given day at the Chicago Auto Show, but especially when all that's outside is bone-chilling cold.

"IT just gets me kind of pumped to see what's next in the future," said Sergio Lopez, an attendee at the Chicago Auto Show.

The Corvette Z06 is turning heads. It's the first super performance Vette to sport those model numbers in a generation, even if today isn't exactly an ideal driving day.

"The great thing about a convertible is that it gives you the best of both worlds, because you can always keep that top up when it's blistering cold outside. But then when that sun comes out and it's absolutely gorgeous and beautiful, with the touch of a button you have that open-air experience ready at your disposal," said Alicia Aime, a GM spokesperson.

There are all kinds of other drop tops on the floor, such as the redesigned Mustang, some gorgeous offerings from Porsche, and the performance division at Lexus. They're all giving people who are here either to shop - or just for the entertainment value of it all - a chance to look forward to spring.

"It's a dream. I just want to get out of bed and you know, hit the pedal," said Dajon Wilson, a Chicago Auto Show attendee.

The Chicago Auto Show runs through Sunday.
