CHICAGO (WLS) -- A retired Chicago police officer who was seriously injured when he was shot in September was honored on Tuesday.
Fred Coffey, a former deputy chief in the Chicago Police Department, was shot by a documented gang member who tried to rob him. The suspect was later arrested.
Coffey received the Officer of the Month award from the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation.
