Rev. Jesse Jackson joins Chicago State students in funding rally

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago State University students hit the streets in an effort to save their school along with Rev. Jesse Jackson Tuesday on the city's South Side.

Last week CSU sent notices to all of its 900 employees that layoffs would happen if the school doesn't receive its state funding.

Rev. Jackson is asking students from across the city to join him a protest the Friday before the March 15 primary to send a message to lawmakers.

"A budget is a moral document. This school should not be in jeopardy. These students should look forward to graduating this spring and on time," Rev. Jackson said.

Rev. Jackson says there will also be a rally at Rainbow/PUSH Coalition this weekend to save CSU.
