CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago Public Schools student has launched a campaign to promote peace and stop the violence across Chicago.

Razia Hutchins started the "I Am for Peace" initiative.

Her anti-violence campaign is being filmed by two former producers of The Oprah Winfrey Show for a documentary.

Hutchins, a junior at Perspectives Charter High School, spoke to the congregation Sunday morning at Salem Baptist Church about how violence has affected her.

"I realize that many of my peers did not care about the violence unless it hit home for them. But if we were going to stop the violence in Chicago, we needed everybody to care," Hutchins said.

Hutchins needs $35,000 to complete the documentary and only has 16 days left to raise the funds.

She's asking for support for her campaign by taking a selfie showing a peace sign, using the hashtag "I Am for Peace."
