Chicago Weather: Heavy rain to soak city, suburbs over next 48 hours
CHICAGO (WLS) -- More wet weather is heading for Chicago, and parts of the area could see more than 3 inches of rain this week.

And as the rain picks up, so will the wind, ABC7 Meteorologist Cheryl Scott said. Gusts may reach 35 to 45 mph by Tuesday night.
"Tomorrow morning, the earlier you can head out the better," Scott said. "Rain will start to increase in coverage here and become widespread between about 8 a.m. and 11 a.m."
The heaviest rain is expected to fall Tuesday afternoon and evening, when some rumbles of thunder are possible.
No flash flooding is expected, but most areas will see between 1 and 3 inches of rain over the next two days, Scott said.
The rain will end late Wednesday, leaving behind cooler temperatures starting Thursday. The cold air will stick around through the weekend, with snow showers possible on Saturday.
