CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago Public Schools tagged on two days at the end of the school year to make up for days missed last month.
The last day of school for CPS students will be Friday, June 19, 2015.
The original calendar had the 2014-2015 school year ending on Wednesday, June 17, 2015. CPS announced the change Friday.
"We highly value each day of classroom instruction that our students receive, which is why any missed days are rescheduled," said CPS CEO Barbara Byrd-Bennett in a news release. "The academic calendar has been updated to allow for students to receive the full education and development time that is needed to have a fully successful school year."
The update to the calendar will not disrupt graduation schedules or the start of summer school, the statement said.
CPS is the third largest school district in the nation.
