HAMMOND, Ind. (WLS) -- A 25-year-old suburban Riverdale man was fatally shot early Tuesday in Hammond, Ind., according to the Lake County (Ind.) Coroner's officer.
A 26-year-old Hammond man was taken into custody after the shooting, police said.
Craig Hatton, Jr., was shot in the 5500-block of Claude Avenue in Hammond in northwest Indiana, officials said. He was pronounced shortly after 1 a.m. at Franciscan St. Margaret Health hospital.
Investigators said that the victim and Hammond man were in a home when they got into a verbal altercation. The dispute moved outside of the home and led to the shooting, police said.
