Armed man tried to abduct child in Des Plaines, police say

Police have issued a sketch of a man they say was armed when he attempted to abduct a child Monday morning in Des Plaines.

DES PLAINES, Ill. (WLS) -- Police have issued a sketch of a man they say was armed when he attempted to abduct a child Monday morning in Des Plaines.

According to the Cook County sheriff's office, a 10-year-old boy was walking along Holly Lane when the man approached him with a knife and said "come here." The boy ran home and was not hurt.

The man is described as Middle Eastern or black, in his 40s with dark brown eyes, black hair, dark brown complexion, approximately 5'10" to 6' tall and approximately 190 to 210 pounds. He has a birthmark or a blemish above his eyebrow. He wore a plaid Kangol type hat and a tan trench coat.
