E-coli death spurs investigation of Ind. daycare

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WLS) -- An Indiana daycare is under investigation after a child died from e-coli.

There are several other suspected cases in Fulton and Wabash Counties near South Bend. State and local investigators say the cases could all be tied to a daycare, but they aren't sure where the bacteria came from.

Nine-year-old Destiny Smith passed away last week, but her parents say the child did not go to the daycare.

Officials think the problem could be in the area's drinking water.
