DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. (WLS) -- The Illinois Tollway is warning I-PASS customers about an email-based phishing scam posing as E-ZPass, officials said.

Officials said the scam allegedly uses E-ZPass letterhead and claims that recipients owe money for missed tolls. The emails are sent from "E-ZPass Collection Agency" and have been reported to contain subject lines that say "In arrears for driving on toll road" and "Payment for driving on toll road," officials said.

No I-PASS accounts have been compromised as a result of the scam, officials said, but customers are advised to delete any emails matching these descriptions. IPASS is a member of the E-ZPass group, an association of toll agencies in 15 states.

The Illinois Tollway and E-ZPass group are continuing to investigate.
