BERWYN, Ill. (WLS) -- Berwyn School District 100 is on the verge of major budget cuts, but parents feel that closing a local elementary school is not the solution.

Piper Elementary has 300 students and may be forced to close. Administrators and parents have been debating the possibility for months after state funding for education was cut.

The issue is expected to take center stage Wednesday at a school board meeting.

The district has already dipped into its savings, leaving the district with a $2.1-million deficit.
