Man charged in attack on elderly woman in Lakeview high-rise

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 61-year-old man is charged with attacking and robbing an elderly woman in a Lakeview high rise on Easter Sunday.

An elderly woman who was knocked to the ground and robbed said she was on her way to visit her ailing husband when she was attacked.

Police say they arrested Darren Berlin after he was identified as the man seen on surveillance video shot last month inside the building on the 3600-block of N. Pine Grove.

The 75-year-old victim told ABC7 she was getting off an elevator with her walker when the robber threw her onto the floor.

After an off-camera struggle, he walked off with her purse.
