CHICAGO (WLS) -- A working a tattoo shop will be part of The Field Museum's upcoming exhibition "Tattoo," where visitors can book appointments with six artists.
On select weekends during the run of the show, members of the public will be able to get a natural history-themed tattoo live in the exhibition by a number of local tattoo artists. Visitors will be able to choose from 42 different pieces of pre-drawn designs or flash art created by local artists to get as tattoos.
There are 36 tattooing slots open for the public to reserve on a first-come first-served fashion. To book a slot, call 312-788-5040.
"We're excited to give our visitors the chance to get tattooed by some of our city's greats, including Zach Stuka of Deluxe Tattoo and Stephanie Brown of Butterfat Studios. A lot of these artists have wait-lists that are months, if not years, long, so it's a great opportunity for the 36 people who are the first to sign up," Exhibitions Project Manager Janet Hong said.
"Tattoo" will open on October 21 and run through April 30. It was initially developed by Paris's Musee du Quai Branly and features 170 objects demonstrating the history of tattooing, including historical artifacts and intricate contemporary designs tattooed onto silicone models of the human body.
