Body found in creek at Geneva Golf Club identified

GENEVA, Ill. (WLS) -- Officials are investigating after a body was found in a creek at Geneva Golf Club in the western suburbs, police said.

The body of John A. Gaines, 74, was found in the creek near the course's sixth hole around 1:29 p.m. Friday, police said. He was taken to Delnor Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:50 p.m.

Police say Gaines is a longtime resident of Geneva and the husband of Jean Gaines, Geneva Chamber of Commerce president.

Police are continuing to investigate.
