GLENVIEW, Ill. (WLS) -- The Oktoberfest is underway in Munich, Germany, but if you can't make it overseas, you can still celebrate in the Chicago area! The Glenview House is inviting everyone to its third annual Tent Party on Saturday, Sept. 20.
Jeff Modica, executive chef at the Glenview House, and Jennifer Johnson, manager, came into our ABC 7 Eyewitness News studio to tell us about the event and to show us a recipe for Currywurst.

Chef Modica's recipe: Currywurst
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons oil
1/2 cup onion small, diced
3 cloves minced garlic
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 tablespoon curry
1 teaspoon yellow mustard powder
Pinch ground cloves
1 tablespoon Worcestershire
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup brown sugar
28 oz. crushed tomatoes
Preparation:
1. Heat a sauce pan and add the oil.
2. Sweat the onions in oil with a pinch of salt until translucent.
3. Add garlic and cook to release its flavor. Add the remaining spices and cook to release their flavors.
4. Stir in the tomato paste and coat the ingredients. Then deglaze with the apple cider vinegar.
5. Add the sugar, Worcestershire and crushed tomatoes.
6. Bring to a boil and turn down to a summer for around 45 minutes until mixture thickens.
7. Blend the sauce and adjust seasonings to taste.
8. Pour sauce over grilled and sliced weisswurst.
