CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Greater Chicago Food Depository invites you to join their 32nd Annual Hunger Walk on Saturday, September 16, 2017. The family-friendly event is happening in Jackson Park. The event raises awareness of hunger and supports the Food Depository's network of more than 700 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and programs that distribute food to our struggling neighbors every day throughout the Chicago area. More than 12,000 people are expected to participate. You have until Thursday, September 14 at 3:00 p.m. to register if you'd like to take part.
The Hunger Walk provides crucial support to the Food Depository's partner agencies as they serve more than 812,000 individuals in Cook County each year. In some cases, funds raised at the Hunger Walk are enough to enable many agencies to operate for an entire year. ABC 7 is a proud sponsor of the 32nd Annual Hunger Walk. Nicole Robinson, the vice president of community impact for the Greater Chicago Food Depository, joined ABC 7 to encourage everyone to register and join the fun.
