CHICAGO (WLS) -- A new attraction on the Magnificent Mile is offering visitors a view that is not for the faint of heart.
Located on the Hancock Observation Deck and called "The Tilt," it uses massive hydraulic power to pitch eight people at a time over the city of Chicago at a 30-degree angle. Each turn on The Tilt costs $5.
Ald. Bob Fioretti was on hand Thursday at the ribbon-cutting ceremony that opened the attraction.
"It took about three to four seconds and you said, 'whoa,'" said Fioretti. "I was hoping that everything was just going to maintain."
The Tilt was built by Montparnasse USA, specifically to attract more people to visit Chicago and the Observation Deck at the top of the Hancock. It cost several million dollars to build, which investors say mirrors Chicago's improving economy.
The attraction opens to the public Saturday, May 10.
